Welcome To The SU Debate Team Web Page!

On this home page I'll introduce the issues and highlight important areas on this site.

A debate is a significant challenge. It is difficult to get a message out to as many people as possible in a short time. This web page is a way to introduce the topics as conveniently as possible.

I would like to start by saying that it is important to understand some issues in nature writing that my group has been discussing over the past semester.  In order to do so, I would recommend three books.  Herman Hesse's Siddartha, Annie Dillard's Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, and finally Robert Finch and John Elder's Norton Book of Nature Writing.  Many of these authors, found in the aforementioned three texts will be alluded to in the upcoming debate scheduled for May 14, 2004.

At the top of this page, there are links to each premise.  I have separated them for ease of navigation through the web page.  Premise one addresses the natural aspect of nature, while premise two addresses the interaction one has with nature.  Premise three, on the other hand, addresses the issue that SU will defend at the debate.  It underlines how nature is changeable based on what humans and animals bring into it.

We hope you'll find the information you need on this site to make an informed decision. We look forward to hearing from you if you have any questions or need further information.
